The central mid-level escalator connects the CBD and residential areas of Hong Kong, which is the product of people's pursuit of efficient work. It runs to the CBD from 6 to 10 o 'clock to send people to work and turn opposite direction residential areas after 10 to supply people’s entertainment. It is a distillation of Hong Kong's two urban spirits - diversity and efficiency. I designed mobile modules and sites to amplify this urban mechanism, making "miniaturization of Hong Kong" the recorder of the urban spirit.
EFFICIENCY: The moving module is a railcar on the ground and a cable car in the air. It always moves with the escalator correspondingly. There are life functions that help commuters to complete daily activities while on the trip, saving them time.
DIVERSITY: Linear escalators run through several neighborhoods, each with a different cultural landmark. We designed four sites to harmonize with the surround, add site-specific functions, and increase the cultural identifiability of the four sites.
